Resource Summary: The Renaye James Healthcare Advisors’ Learning Collaborative will cover various aspects of safe patient care, including safety measure/metric identification, data collection, leadership commitment, facility requirements, regulatory requirements, external collaborations, and governance involvement. Federal, state, local regulations, and accrediting organizations require the delivery of safe medical care for patients, staff, and visitors. The content will reinforce how focusing on patient safety by all departments and staff positively impacts patients and the organization. Participants will identify a hypothetical patient safety event that could occur at their health center and will be asked to draft a plan for investigation and response.
Resource Details: This session examines the benefits of implementing a patient-centered care model that supports patient safety and embraces the patient as a member and co-leader of the health care team. Participants will learn how to align patient-centered care with HRSA’s Advancing Health Center Excellence Framework domains of Patient Experience and Governance as well as Quality, Patient Care, and Safety and encourage leaders to identify, monitor and report to governance the key measures that demonstrate improvements in patient safety.
