Resource Summary: The Health Care for the Homeless Community has long been providing innovative care in a mobile setting. The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated both the need and opportunity to build on the mobile model of care and push for creative ways to do so. This webinar highlighted the efforts of communities who have taken mobile services in a new direction.
Resource Details: The Health Care for the Homeless Community has long been providing innovative care in a mobile setting. The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated both the need and opportunity to build on the mobile model of care and push for creative ways to do so. This webinar highlighted the efforts of communities who have taken mobile services in a new direction. The Alameda County Health Care for the Homeless Program has shifted the vehicle they provide services in to allow them to reach encampments and outdoor settings. The model also incorporates the vital role of the Community Health Worker as part of their mobile team. The Source Ministries runs the Dignity Bus – a mobile emergency shelter in Indian River County, FL, that provides safe, overnight accommodation to people who are unsheltered, filling a service gap in their community.
