Resource Summary: This resource, developed with support from HRSA, explores the benefits, opportunities, challenges, and financing resources for FQHCs looking to install solar+storage microgrids. (Released in 2023)

Resource Details: Power is critical to the delivery of health care services. Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) rely on electricity to access patient records, operate medical and diagnostic equipment, and keep medication and vaccines refrigerated. When the power goes out, FQHCs face serious costs – not only in lost revenue from patient visits and contaminated medication – but in their ability to deliver critical health services to communities in need. To help you better understand how this clean energy solution might benefit your health center and the community you serve, we highlight case studies of health centers that have successfully implemented solar and battery back-up systems and provide links to relevant resources.

Resource Topic: Emerging Issues

Keywords: Access to Care, Environmental Health.
