Resource Details: The demand for medical assistants (MAs) is outpacing the current labor supply and many California Community Health Centers (CHCs) are experiencing challenges recruiting and retaining MAs . In addition, CHCs need MAs with a wide array of skill sets and experience working with uninsured populations that may not taught in traditional MA programs. For these reasons, CHCs are developing creative ways to train and “grow their own” MA workforce. This session highlights two health center leaders who took proactive approaches and capitalized on the growing momentum to create internal MA training and career ladders.
