Resource Details: When the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) ends, the current continuous Medicaid coverage requirement enacted by the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) in March 2020 will no longer apply. State Medicaid agencies will be tasked with resuming normal eligibility determinations and enrollment operations after a more than two-year pause. With more than 80 million people enrolled in Medicaid, many states and experts estimate that tens of thousands of enrollees are likely to lose coverage. Luckily, community health centers are on the front lines to help consumers not lose access to coverage. Health centers employ over 4,000 enrollment eligibility assisters who play a critical role in help Medicaid enrollees update their contact information, re-enroll into coverage, and transition to Marketplace coverage as applicable.
