Resource Details: Leading the fight to end the AIDS epidemic in Miami, FL and beyond, Care Resource Community Health Center has worked to cut Miami-Dade County’s AIDS diagnoses in half over the last decade. Care Resource was established after the Health Care Network joined forces with the Community Research Initiative (CRI) in 1998, becoming the largest organization serving South Florida’s HIV/ AIDs community. Recognized as a Center of Excellence for LGBT Care by the Healthcare Equality Index, and operating in seven locations across Miami-Dade and Broward Counties in Florida, Care Resource provided 44,700 visits to 13,000 patients in 2018. The majority of Care Resource patients—73% to be exact—reporting their status are living at or below 200% of the poverty level and 73.5% are either covered by Medicaid or have no insurance.
