Resource Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic’s compounding effects of job loss, isolation, dismantled support systems, grief, and disruptions in care, all resulted in significant financial strain and legal problems that impacted the mental health and well-being of adults and children. In this webinar, subject matter experts in social determinants of health and medical-legal partnership interventions discussed: 1) how financial strains such as high debt, low income and unemployment are associated with suicide attempts and should be considered key factors when assessing mental health interventions; and 2) how legal services delivered alongside social, medical, and behavioral health services can help improve the overall health and well-being of children. The multidisciplinary audience will be prompted to share insights, tools, and COVID-related strategies on how their health centers, legal services organizations, medical-legal partnerships, or other community based organizations have responded to the unique behavioral and mental health needs of adults and children during the pandemic.
