Approximately half of people experiencing homelessness have diagnosable substance use disorders at some point in their lives and experience stigma, serious mental illness, and poor health outcomes as a result. This edition will explore the current opioid crisis, other commonly-used substances, critical issues that intersect with substance use and mental health in homeless populations, and strategies that providers can use to reduce the impact of stigma on patient treatment.
