Resource Summary: Health centers need to understand the resources and how to access to support affordable housing for their clients. Federal HUD rental assistance and vouchers provide the necessary supports for housing for low income and vulnerable populations.

Resource Details: Health centers are increasingly addressing the social determinants of health for their patient population through partnerships and linkages to local housing and service resources. The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program is a long-standing, critical resource that provides housing stability. Those working in the front lines of health centers can be key partners in linking eligible individuals to sustainable, affordable housing and providing health care to HCV participants.
